IMME releases report on News Literacy
February 18, 2025IMME launches News Literacy presentations
with the support of the BUILD programme
The Institute for Mass Media has launched a pilot News Literacy presentation programme for secondary schools in the context of its Media Freedom Literacy Project. The project is supported by the BUILD programme which is co-financed by the European Union, through the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) program, the Bodosaki Foundation and the NGO Support Center.
The presentations are targeted at pupils in Year 11, 12 and 13 in public and private schools and at first-year University students and are conducted in both Greek and English. Through the presentations IMME aims to highlight the significance of quality journalism in a democratic society, the right of EU citizens to information provided within a free, transparent and pluralistic media environment, the difference between news reporters and content creators, the proliferation of disinformation and how this is countered by fact-checking and investigative journalism.
